By John Obe. The King of Eleme land, His Majesty, Emere Philip Osaro Obele has narrated the migratory similarity between the Eleme and Ogoni people which has affected their cultures. He added that same migratory movements influenced the seeming resemblance in their languages. “The Ogoni people and Eleme people are close. This closeness has brought cultural linkages between us. Migratory movements that took place long time ago affected our languages. You see Ogoni language and Eleme language, there are slight differences. Ogale Demands Equity Participation, Other Allotments in Oil Production Resumption

Ogale, headquarters of Eleme Local Government Area and traditional head-town of Eleme land, subdivided into nine communities, hosting a manifold, booster station, and flow station, has demanded for Equity Participation and Industry Stake-holding, Quarterly Equity Disbursement for Host Communities, Comprehensive Community-Centered GMoU among other demands before resumption of crude oil production in Ogoniland. The demands were tabled in a statement signed by the leaders of the community under its paramount ruler, King Godwin Bebe Okpabi, Oneh-eh Nchia X and Paramount Ruler of Ogale, presented on Saturday, when the people of Eleme received the Ogoni Dialogue Committee on oil exploration resumption in Ogoniland at a town hall meeting in Alesa. This morning, Wednesday, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says he was at the Rivers State House of Assembly to present the 2025 budget in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement but met a locked gate. Gov Fubara who said his recent actions are in the interest of Rivers people, while addressing journalists in front of the locked gate of the Assembly Quarters, where the lawmakers hold plenary, said he made several attempts to reach the Speaker before his arrival but was unable to do so. He said he expects to hear from them as they could be working on a letter. The Oil and Gas-Bearing Communities of Eleme have asked for Exploration and Production (E&P) Partnership, Unbundling of OML 11 and Establishment of Eleme Oil and Gas Fields, among other demands for resumption of oil exploration in the area.   Two commissioners of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Simeon Emenike Weli and Lazbery Nyebuchi Nna have resigned their appointments with the commission following the Supreme Court invalidation of the 2024 local council poll in Rivers State and other unfolding political events. In his resignation letter, addressed to the chairman of the commission, Lazbery Nyebuchi Nna said the invalidation of the 5 th October 2024 LG election in Rivers State and other resultant events necessitated his resignation. "Sequel to the recent judgement delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which annulled the 5th October, 2024 Local Government Council elections in Rivers State and the unfolding events in the Commission, I am compelled to resign my appointment as a Commissioner in the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission." Eleme Chiefs Dedicate Judgement to Late Monarch, Following Supreme Court Resolution on Oneh-eh Eleme Tussle

Following a Supreme Court Resolution on Oneh-eh Eleme Tussle, the Eleme Council of Chiefs has dedicated its victory to the memory of the immediate past traditional ruler of Eleme land, HRM Emere Samuel Oluka Ejire. Led by His Royal Majesty, Emere Philip Osaro Obele, Oneh-eh Eleme XI, the Eleme Council of Chiefs visited the home of the former monarch in Agbonchia to dedicate the judgement to the memory of the late king. Members of the council were received by the eldest son of the late monarch, Prince Awalanta Ejire, who warmly ushered them into what used to serve as Royal Court of late King Ejire, but now his final rest-place. The council said the name of King Ejire will be written in gold considering the role he devotedly played to ensure that the Eleme chieftaincy institution was not battered and distorted by usurpers, stating that the selection process of Oneh-eh Eleme is no more to be balkanized and ridiculed by throne buccaneers.     ...
