Tension Heightens in Rivers as Gov Fubara Talks Tough
Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, said he's ready to pay the supreme price to protect the interest of Rivers state.
Fubara who spoke during the commissioning of the government house staff quarters along Old GRA Port Harcourt yesterday charged his supporters not to be dampened by the Supreme Court judgement, adding that he is not scared of losing his office.
“The worst thing that will happen is that I’ll be removed but I’ve not been removed. And if I’m removed I’ll still be alive, it’s not a death sentence, and even if I will lose my life I’m ready. Youths, I’ll soon give you signal when you will start action, just be on standby.”
The Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of a Federal High Court that barred the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN and the accountant-general of the federation from releasing statutory monthly allocations to Rivers State, and also ordered the Martins Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly and other elected members of the house to resume sitting.
