300 Million Naira to NBA Was for Hosting Rights, Rivers Government Insists

The Rivers State Government maintains that the ₦300 million granted to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was not a gift as stated, but rather for the hosting rights of the NBA annual general conference.  Remember how the NBA claimed the money was a gift in response to the state government's demands for a refund?  However, documents indicate that the ₦300 million payment to the NBA was made with the mutual understanding that Rivers State will host the 2025 NBA AGC, according to a statement from the SSA Media, Rivers State Government, and Hector Igbikiowubo.

According to the statement, Rivers State Government entered into the agreement with the NBA in good faith, knowing that hosting the conference in the state would provide substantial economic advantages for the state and have a direct and beneficial influence on Rivers residents' companies.  He warned that legal action would be taken if the money was not returned and characterized the NBA's decision to transfer the event to Enugu while keeping the money as a breach of trust.  According to the Rivers State Government, collaborations with the NBA and other professional organizations are still welcome as long as they are based on respect and equity.

Nchia Council of Chiefs Reaffirms King Okpabi Authentic Oneh-eh Nchia X, Says Appollos Chu’s Claim to The Title Is Unlawful

  By John Ollor Obe The Nchia Council of Chiefs has reaffirmed the position of his Royal Highness, King Godwin Bebe Okpabi as the authentic Oneh-eh Nchia X of Nchia district in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. This is contained in a statement issued by the council in reaction to what it termed "an online publication" where Appollos Chu was presented as Oneh-eh Nchia while meeting with the Rivers State Commissioner of Police. Ogbochure Association Attends Funeral of Her Treasurer, Late Dame Marilyn Ollor

By Nwafor Oji Awala At the funeral service for her late treasurer and financial secretary, Dame Marilyn Chargba Ollor, held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Eleme, the Ogbochure Association of Eleme, under the direction of its president, Evang. Ngajo Sunday Oyor, joined family members, friends, and other mourners. She was buried at her home in Ogale, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. According to Evang. Ngajo Oyor, President of Ogbochure, the late Dame Ollor was a practical woman.  He said that she was devoted to her club responsibilities and a wonderful friend.  “We lost a great Ogbochure member today.  She will be sorely missed by us.  "I hope she finds peace."
