Obio,/Akpor Administrator Restores Wike's Name at Council Secretariat

The Obio/Akpor Local Government Area Secretariat's Admin Block now bears the name of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the former governor of Rivers State.  The adjustment was made by Dr. Ndu Walter, the LGA's sole administrator, after Mr. Chijioke Ihunwo, the council's previous chairman, had previously deleted it.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara's ally, Mr. Ihunwo, had substituted the name of the late minority rights leader, Sen. Obi Wali, for Wike's.  Recently, a video was uploaded confirming that Wike's name has returned to the Admin Block. The decision was made during Rivers State's continuing political crisis.

In March, Governor Fubara was suspended by President Bola Tinubu, who then named retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas as the state's new sole administrator to assume charge.

This action came after a protracted dispute over control of the state's political system between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.
