Poet and Dramatist, Nwafor Oji Awala

Prolific poet and dramatist, Nwafor Oji Awala is known for his provocative writing. 

His works include: Pearls, published in 2023; Reign of Hyenas, published in 2024; Your Eyes Were Oyster Shells, published in 2024; True Essence of the Eleme Man, published in 2024; and Flood of Misery, published in 2024. 



Awala was born on April 23, 1975, in Ogale, Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria. The rich cultural legacy of his community had an impact on his early years.  He had his further studies at Port Harcourt's Rivers State College of Arts and Science, where he developed his creative abilities and broadened his knowledge of drama and literature.  He then continued his education at the University of Calabar.



As the director of a small theater and film company, Awala has demonstrated his versatility throughout his career.  Intriguing plays for the stage and cinema have been written, produced, and directed by him.

Awala is the publisher of Prime Heritage Magazine and Eleme Today Newspaper in addition to his contributions to the literary and artistic communities.  As he continues to have a significant influence on Nigerian culture, Nwafor Awala's artistic career is a diverse tapestry of poetry, theater, and journalism.
