Report to National Assembly, House of Reps Reminds Rivers Sole Administrator
Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the only administrator of Rivers State, has been reminded by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas that he is required by the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to report to the National Assembly on the management of the state's affairs.
At the inauguration of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State, the Speaker made this statement. Speaker Abbas warned that there is no space for partisanship or bias and encouraged the 21-member committee to act impartially. According to him, the only administrator must conduct business with the utmost accountability and openness.
Remember how President Bola Tinubu imposed a six-month emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, as a result of the political dispute between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara?
