Nigerian Army Uses Innovative Methods to Combat Terrorism

According to Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), the Nigerian Army implemented new tactics and protocols to defeat the country's enemies and put an end to terrorism.  He made this statement on Wednesday in Bauchi during a firepower display exercise for the 2025 Combat Arms Training Week (CAT).

Oluyede stated that the federal government has acquired weapons and equipment to combat terrorism and insurgency in the nation, as represented by Maj:-Gen. Henry Wesley, Commander of the Ordnance Corps.  He claimed that the Nigerian Army and President Bola Tinubu were attempting to make sure that improvements were reflected in the field.

“It was very important that all the participants are brought here to see the capabilities which we are using to execute the various operations that we have, ” he said.

Oluyede said the enemies would feel the heat at the end of the day, adding that, “the government has bought a lot of equipment and weapons. Some are already in the field, some are still coming.”

The firepower demonstration, according to Oluyede, is significant because it introduces participants to the most recent capabilities the army has deployed for a variety of operations.  According to Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, the week-long gathering offered a forum for discussing important topics influencing combat arms operations.  (NAN)
