Official Vehicles Retrieved from Rivers Deputy Governor's Lodge by Government

By John Obe.

After Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Ordu was suspended under the current state of emergency, three official vehicles were reportedly retrieved from the Rivers State Deputy Governor's Lodge.

According to sources, Rivers State Government personnel took two Hilux trucks and one Hiace bus from the property, stating that they needed to redeploy assets because of a lack of operating resources.

The move comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who proclaimed a six-month state of emergency in the state on April 25, 2025, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ordu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

In response, Mr. Hector Igbikiowubo, the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Rivers State Government, said that only one Hilux truck was recovered, claiming that it was necessary solely for operational reasons.

Reactions on social media have been mixed.  An advocate for the suspended governor questioned the validity of the retrieval in a Facebook post, emphasizing that suspension does not mean expulsion from office.

As players continue to look for common ground, the development exacerbates the state's already rising political tension.
