Protest Over "Verydarkman's Detention" Erupts in Abuja

On Monday, a group of young people took to the streets of Abuja to demand the immediate release of Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), a social media influencer and activist.

"He's not a thief, Now VDM has blocked the road, Release VDM," the large group of protesting teens screamed.

Carrying placards with a variety of messages, the demonstrators gathered at the intersection that leads to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in the Jabi neighborhood of Abuja.

Remember how VeryDarkMan was taken into custody by security personnel in Abuja last week?

According to reports, VDM's recent public criticism of GTBank for allegedly making unauthorized withdrawals from his mother's account was the reason for the arrest.

Before his arrest, his outspoken call for responsibility received a lot of attention online.

The young people rushed to the streets to demand his release, despite the fact that the specifics of his imprisonment are still unclear.

Details will be provided later.
