Seyi Tinubu Denies NANS President's Claims of Kidnapping and Bribery Totaling N100 Million

President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi Tinubu, has refuted claims of kidnapping, bribery, and coercion made against him by Atiku Abubakar Isah, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).  He called the NANS president's assertions "completely fictional" and an effort to harm his standing.  Seyi Tinubu expressed his shock at the charges on his Instagram account on Friday.

“Wow... how can someone lie with so much confidence? An attempt to defame my character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah,” he wrote and  further clarified that he has never met or held any meeting with Isah:

“I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world. I have never knowingly met him before. Neither did I visit any location with thugs.”

The reaction followed Isah's news appearance on Wednesday, in which he claimed that Seyi Tinubu and Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, had given him a bribe of ₦100 million in Lagos to back President Tinubu.  Isah stated that he turned down the offer, pointing to the Tinubu administration's poor performance and unfulfilled promises.  The student leader added that after refusing the money, he was kidnapped on April 15.  Isah claims that a group comprising the Managing Director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) "stripped naked and beaten" him and forced him to make a bogus press release.

“They claimed they would release the video of my torture. I was told nothing would happen even if I was killed because Seyi Tinubu could order a cover-up,” he alleged. Isah also accused a certain ‘Ladoja’ of boasting that he could instruct the Inspector General of Police to suppress any fallout.

Isah added that in spite of the threats, he was unwavering and took part in his formal inauguration as president of NANS, promising to make the alleged occurrence public.
